To be eligible to participate in the iCURE program, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or non-citizen national*
- *Non-citizen national describes individuals that are native to an American territorial possession and have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States. Please refer to the US Department of State for additional clarification.
Refer to the details below to determine your eligibility or the research experience you'll be applying to start when you come to NCI.
Postbaccalaureate individuals (including post-masters individuals)
- Must either
- Be a college graduate who received a bachelor's degree within three years of beginning the program;
- or have received a master's degree within six months before beginning the program.
- Must be available for a 1-year or 2-year fellowship, beginning by September 1, 2026.
Graduate students
- Not accepting applications for this year
Postdoctoral fellows
- Individuals must have acquired a Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.V.M. or equivalent doctoral degree in a biomedical, behavioral, or related science; or certification by a university as meeting all the requirements leading to such a doctorate by the start of the iCURE Program.
- Must have less than 5 years of relevant postdoctoral research experience since the receipt of the most recent doctoral degree.
- Must be available for a 3-year fellowship to begin preferably by September 1, 2026 but no later than December 31, 2026.
In order to be approved for logical and physical access to NIH facilities and systems, candidates must be able to pass a federal background check.
