Selection
Selection Process
- CRP reviews applications to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
- A selection committee, consisting of NCI scientists and staff, will evaluate and select eligible applications on the following basis:
- Personal and Diversity statements
- Research experience
- 2 letters of reference
- GPA
Notification
Applicants are notified via email of the selection decision approximately 6 weeks after the application deadline.
Interviews and Acceptance
Selected applicants will be contacted by NCI scientists and staff to arrange interviews during the time indicated above. Once complete, both the applicant and the investigators will submit rankings based on their interviews. The CRP program administrator will then make the best possible matches based on those rankings, and extend an offer on behalf of the program and investigator.
Fellowship Requirements
CRP Fellows are required to begin their fellowship no later than August 1st following the interview period. The actual start date should be determined between the fellow and the investigator at the most suitable time (possibly to overlap with a current fellow as early as May or June). Once the fellowship begins in earnest in August, all fellows are required to attend and engage in the following activities during their fellowship:
- CRP Orientation (early August)
- Monthly program meetings
- Career and professional development opportunities
- NIH Postbac Poster Day
More information about the above requirements is discussed at the CRP Orientation. Please note, stipend and health insurance support is the responsibility of the individual investigator, not CRP.
