About Postdoc Finder

Postdoc Finder accepts applications from interested postdoctoral candidates for fellowship positions that may have future openings, and lets investigators post position openings for postdoctoral candidates to browse. Investigators can use Postdoc Finder to invite postdoc applicants to interview, and extend position offers.

When Postdoc Finder opens, you will be able to create an application on the Train at NCI Portal with relevant information to help NCI Investigators match you with postdoctoral fellowship opportunities. You can update your application after submitting it with new degree information, publications, and research interests.

Your application will stay visible to NCI investigators until you accept a position, choose to hide your application, or six months has passed. After six months, you'll be asked to renew your application by making updates or confirming your application information is still accurate.

Applicants are encouraged to use their current curriculum vitae and to add any necessary information.

Eligibility

  • Have a Ph.D., M.D., or doctoral degree in a related discipline
  • Have less than 5 years of relevant postdoctoral experience

Applicants that have less than 5 years of relevant postdoctoral experience and who meet the education requirements are eligible to submit an application in Postdoc Finder. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., DDS or other equivalent doctoral degree in a related discipline or expect to complete all degree requirements by the time you start any postdoc position that is offered.

U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and international applicants are eligible for the program. International scientists will participate in the NIH Visiting Fellows Program. Visit the NIH Division of International Services to learn more about visa requirements and the process for onboarding at the NIH.

All applicants must be able to pass a federal background check. Please carefully read the full terms and conditions, as ignoring this information could prevent you from starting your postdoctoral fellowship.

You can save projects to your bookmarks, and let NCI investigators know you're interested. Investigators can view your application and contact you to set up an interview for the fellowship opportunities and positions.

Additional eligibility requirements, such as citizenship, may vary by position. Please be sure to discuss these topics during the interview, if one is extended.
